Would you like to watch UK TV abroad from anywhere in the world ?
Five years ago, we supplied our first VPN connection to one of our existing clients and soon after this, we decided to expand our UK TV abroad VPN service on to the World Wide Web.
We hope that you like the new web site.
In the early days of online TV (BBC iPlayer and ITV Player) demand was so great (compared to supply) that we didn't need a flashy web site. The majority of our customers came from recommendation. We benefited from entering the market early, supplied a good service and new business took care of itself. In the last couple of years inevitably, things have moved on and so we felt that it was time to give our web site a facelift.
Customers are looking for a better viewing experience.
Our core business (supplying UK VPN connections to British Expatriates to enable them to watch UK TV abroad) has not changed, but we have diversified a little and added some new products (an example of this is the product advertised at the top of this page) which we have introduced to meet the growing demand from our customers for an independent TV set top box.
Set Top Box for UK TV
When we first introduced the set top box for UK TV, the initial reaction from our customers was luke warm, but over the last 14 months, an ever increasing amount of our customers have moved over to the new system and we receive new enquiries every day from customers who no longer want to connect their laptop to the TV with a VGA and audio cable and struggle with a mouse or mousepad. Nowadays, customers prefer to use a smaller, better, quieter, cheaper device and our set top box for UK TV ticks all these boxes.
BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and other similar online TV services
Before we get into the ins and outs of our set top box which by the way, doesn't need a VPN connection to watch live UK TV or to use the Movies and TV on Demand services, let's supply some information to the potential customers who may just be looking for a reliable VPN connection to use with their existing set up.
Most UK residents are familiar with the BBC iplayer web site which allows TV License payers to watch UK TV and catch up TV at any time of day or, night. They are able to watch the programmes that they want to watch, when they want to watch them !
What many people don't realise however, is that subject to them paying the normal UK TV license fee, they can also watch BBC programmes LIVE on the BBC iPlayer web site at the same time that they are transmitted in the UK, and download BBC programmes on to their computers to watch later.
At some time or another, British people staying abroad in their holiday homes have all tried to log on to the BBC's web site in the hope of being able to watch UK TV abroad - their favourite news programme maybe or, the latest episode of their favourite soap - Eastenders or, Strictly Come Dancing perhaps. Unfortunately, they can't watch UK TV abroad because viewing is restricted - blocked ! The BBC is obliged to restrict viewing of its content to people with computers that are physically located in the UK. They do this by checking the IP address of any device that tries to access their content and they only allow computers with UK IP addresses to gain access so, if you are outside the UK, you can't watch UK TV abroad.
The BBC funds the BBC iPlayer service from the TV license fees that British residents pay which entitles us to watch TV in the UK but, even UK TV license payers cannot use the BBC iPlayer service from their holiday home or, whilst travelling abroad on holiday or, on a business trip.
If you are temporarily staying or living abroad, your foreign internet service provider has allocated your computer a foreign IP address which is registered to a country which is outside the UK and as a result, you will not be able to watch UK TV abroad, but just to be sure, why not give it a try..... BBC iPlayer .....when you try to play a programme, the message that you will see is: "Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only" When using a foreign IP address, access to BBC iPlayer is blocked...
Our UK VPN Servers
Connecting to any one of the 8 virtual private network (VPN) servers that we have in the UK gets around this problem and enables you to use BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and other similar web sites because when you connect, it doesn't matter where you are in the world, your computer 'appears' to be physically located in the UK and the BBC and ITV's geographical restrictions therefore, do not apply.
Live TV from the BBC iPlayer and ITV Player websites runs on as little as 800kbps of internet bandwidth and therefore, in theory, a good, constant 1Mbps internet connection is all that you require to be able to watch UK TV abroad however, we recommend that you should have at least a minimum 2Mbps internet connection which should provide at least 1Mbps of internet bandwidth, even at times when the internet is busy and running slower than usual.
Do you need to be a computer genius to connect to our VPN server ?
No! It takes 5 minutes to set your computer up and 30 seconds to connect to our server. In any event, we provide step by step instructions that explain exactly what you have to do and, if you do experience a problem we also provide a UK telephone number for 'real person' technical support from 6am - 6pm (UK time)
